The best way to help your cpu is simply to maintain a constant heat so that its physical state doesn't change too much. If the heat that is generated by the processor is too high, the best way to deal with that is to go into your power management scheme in your settings/control panel. There is an option under advanced settings to lower the maximum and minimum processor states. Another option is to just stick a cooling pad under your laptop, or leave a bit of space around your pc case. For me the best option is to probably stop resting hot coffee cups on it. Having looked at system resource use at the moment it seems that cpu usage is at only about half of maximum for this app.

This app doesn't actually mine bitcoin. It just pays out in bitcoin, which is far more preferable as it allows mining by better algorithms for cpu and gpu, while also allowing people to take their earnings in a currency with a far greater public recognition.

Regulator5678 speaks the truth. Each time a chip warms up it expands, and each time it cools down it contracts; basic physics. The effect is a bit like if you were to bend a spoon backwards and forwards over and over again till it snapped. Old style lightbulbs used to die due to the same principle. Turn them on and off again enough times and the constant heating and cooling makes the filament snap.

Could certainly do with an option to tweak usage of system resources. For some reason my KH/s rate has dropped by about half in the last month or so and I have no idea why. I don't know whether it has been altered deliberately to prevent damage of the computers or something. I have tried uninstalling or disabling most of the likely culprits, but the miner seems to use about 45% of my available power, so I am not sure that would help anyway. This seems to be borne out by the fact that it hasn't helped at all.
